Email monitoring policy

• Emails sent to the City of London Police are liable to be monitored to prevent corruption, misuse and misconduct. The monitoring of emails is permitted under the Lawful Business Monitoring Regulations made under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act.
• Please be aware that you have a responsibility to ensure that any email you write or forward is within the bounds of the law.
• Email communications over the Internet cannot be considered to be secured and could be intercepted by other parties.
• City of London Police reserves the right to block any email or attachments from transmission or receipt, if they deem contents to be in contravention of any rules or guidelines laid down by the force. Monitoring will be undertaken using system software on a continuous basis.
• City of London Police may use email to respond to specific questions or issues. City of London Police will not send commercial solicitation via email to individuals who contact us.
• City of London Police will not pass on email and/or contact details to any third party other than in accordance with our policing purposes or where required by law or the public interest.
