Major bribery investigation
makes news across world
City of London Police's Overseas Anti-Corruption Unit (OACU) has
executed warrants at various business and residential premises
throughout England in support of a US led international
investigation into corruption in the military and law enforcement
products industry.
The operational activity follows a three-year covert
investigation, led by the FBI's Foreign and Corrupt Practices Act
team, which resulted in the simultaneous arrest of 21 suspects in a
coordinated operation in Las Vegas, along with one arrest in
Miami.
The searches at seven different locations in England form part
of an ongoing linked investigation by the City of London Police's
Overseas Anti-Corruption Unit (OACU).
Head of the OACU Det Supt Colin Cowan said: "Over the past
three years the OACU has been working with our colleagues in the
FBI and DOJ on a focused and targeted investigation. These latest
results show just how influential this collaboration can
be.
“Overseas corruption is a serious crime that has a serious
impact, both at home and abroad, and this operation displays the
depth and breadth of our determination and capability".
