City of London Police Commissioner Adrian Leppard has been named in the New Year's Honours List.
The Commissioner will receive the Queen’s Police Medal at an investiture ceremony later in the year.
Mr Leppard joined the City from Kent Police at the start of 2011. He has more than 28 years experience in policing specialising as a detective dealing with complex and covert investigations. He took part in helping to design the current UK Policing response to Counter Terrorism, and in 2005 he led the investigation into the 'world's largest' £53 million Securitas robbery.
More recently as Commissioner he has overseen the continuing work to establish the City of London Police at the forefront of the UK’s fight against economic crime, including the founding of the industry-funded Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department and supporting the development of the National Crime Agency.
Commenting on his award, Commissioner Leppard said: “It is an honour and a privilege for my service to be recognised in this way.
“I have been fortunate enough to work with a number of very talented colleagues throughout my career. I consider this award a recognition not just of my own achievements but of the support I have received along the way.
“None of us join the police for awards or acclaim, but for the policing family to be acknowledged in this way means a great deal to me and I am very grateful.”
