The not-so-Old Bill
Tomorrow's police officers
reported for duty this week (30 Oct 2009), at a youth
involvement day at Wood Street station.
Forty youngsters made the most of an opportunity to
get a behind-the-scenes look at how a City police station
works.
They learnt how to police a riot, how a dog hunts
out explosives and took part in a mock trial, dubbed 'You Be the
Judge' to see how a court case works.
The day was funded by the London Criminal Justice
Board, and was part of Inside Justice week.
It also tied in with Not In My Neighbourhood week,
a series of events organised to raise public awareness of the hard
work being done to tackle crime and anti social behaviour in the
City.
The week includes crime reduction shows at the
Mansell Street and Golden Lane estates, events to get to know your
local Wards Policing teams and a Business Policing conference.
The local community is also being invited to go on
patrol with a PCSO in the City for an hour, to see exactly what the
community support officers do. If you’d like to get involved in any
of the events, contact Sgt Steve Morran on 020 7601 2452 or
community@cityoflondon.police.uk.
