Keyholders
Keyholders keep us informed - We couldn't enter without
you, update your records.
The City of London Police has launched an official keyholder
database to enable our officers to contact the correct keyholders
in the event of an incident at your property.
Why register?
- The keyholder system has been upgraded to provide an efficient,
centralised service to property owners in the City.
- Registration and response to an alarm is a
free service
provided by the City of London Police to
keyholders in the Square Mile.
- When an alarm goes off in the City the police attend your
premises.
- Keyholders will be informed in a timely manner if the City
Police have access to your details from the official City Police
keyholder database.
- It is vital that a keyholder form is submitted every year in
order for you to keep your premises registered. You will receive no
reminders to renew or amend your details so please make a note
in your diary.
What you need to know
- These records can be accessed via a
secure process
by the City of London Police, other emergency
services and local borough council environmental health departments
in the event of an emergency.
- All your data is stored in accordance with the Data Protection
Act 1998 and will not be made available to anyone other than the
Police and through them to the other emergency services.
- If your keyholder details change during the course of the year,
you should advise the City of London Police of the changes.
- Remember, if your property has an audible alarm you are legally
obliged to register all keyholders with police.
- Failure to renew your keyholder details will result in removal
from the keyholder database.
