Liverpool Street Station Transport Hub

Liverpool Street StationIf you have any views on how Liverpool Street Station can be improved, or any views on what activity you think the police and local partners need to focus on then please contact us on (020) 7601 2452 or email community@cityoflondon.police.uk .

The City of London Police is working closely with our partners in the British Transport Police (BTP) and Transport for London (TfL) to review how we work together in and around Liverpool Street Station.  Five mainline stations around London have been selected to trial a hub transport team to deter and reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.

Liverpool Street Station is one of the busiest London stations offering access to both mainline and underground trains as well as being a main terminus for London Buses and pick-up/drop off points for licensed black cabs.

A person’s perceptions on their travelling experience when either entering or leaving Liverpool Street Station will add to their views on how safe they feel in the general area.  Therefore from a partnership perspective, it is essential that all agencies work together to manage anti-social behaviour and crime and ensure that vulnerable people feel safe when travelling.

From a City of London Police perspective Liverpool Street Station remains one of our hot-spot areas for crime, therefore any joint activity and initiatives in this area, will assist to deter and reduce anti-social behaviour and crime in the direct area.

The partnership is currently working to set up the Transport Hub team in January 2010, once an environmental visual audit has been undertaken of Liverpool Street Station and the immediate area.  We will also be consulting with people who use the station to identify what their concerns and priorities are for helping to ensure a safer travelling experience.

The results of this analysis will then direct our partnership activity.  All agencies will meet regularly to consider what joint work can be undertaken to reduce the fear of crime and to deter crime.    All results will be regularly communicated to the community using Liverpool Street Station.  The team will regularly review the results to ensure that success is achieved.  Success will be measured by:-

  • Overall reduction in crime and anti-social behaviour in the Liverpool Street Station Transport Hub area;
  • Increased public confidence in the police, local authority and TfL in the Transport Hub area;
  • Improvement in the quality and level of information sharing between partner agencies to assist in the reduction of crime and anti-social behaviour.
  • Improved communication flow between community and partner agencies.
