The East Area Safer City Wards team aim to provide you with the best possible policing service and we are here to listen and respond to matters that concern you the most.

There are many ways you can have your say and influence what we concentrate on. We hold regular Community Partnership meeting (CPM) and Community Surgeries (CS) where you can meet the team and raise any policing issues you have.

If you are unable to meet us in person you can contact us on the Safer City Wards telephone on 0207 601 2452, or alternatively email us using the community email address.

All this information is then collated and fed back into your Community Partnership meetings where the Area Priorities will be set. We will then take these and if required, work with other agencies to deal with your priorities and report back through this site as well as the meetings and surgeries to tell you what we have done to help resolve your issues.

National Crime mapper: Click to launch National Crime maps for information on crime statistics Interactive map: Click to launch our City of London Police interactive map with information on wards and historical landmarks in the areaFollowing a recent increase in Distraction Theft type offences, particularly in restaurant and pub premises, City of London Police ask that visitors to these areas take particular care of their personal possessions and to immediately report any suspicious behaviour.

Operating as a team, sometimes including children and often with poor command of the English language, the offenders target mobile telephones and bags, using various techniques to remove the items which include distracting the victim with the contents of a clipboard or by placing a newspaper or similar over an article before removing it.

An overview of local crime is available online at maps.police.uk.

[^] How You Can Take Action

Community members are encouraged to attend meetings (details listed above).

  • You may also want to consider becoming a Special Constable. Special Constables are trained officers who offer their services to the City of London on a voluntary basis. Find out more about how you can become a Special Constable.
  • Report any incidents of careless/dangerous or inconsiderate cycling, as this allows us to identify 'hotspots' and deploy our staff to challenge this behaviour.
  • Rough sleepers and street drinkers: inform us in real time, as this allows us to intervene in a timely fashion and potentially defuse or prevent any escalation.

[^] Other results
