Project Griffin

Project Griffin

Project Griffin was devised by the City of London Police in 2004. In 2011 it was identified as national best practice and has since been adopted throughout the United Kingdom and internationally in countries such as America, Australia, South Africa and Canada.

The initiative helps to protect our cities and communities from the threat of terrorism. It brings together and coordinates the resources of the police, emergency services, local authorities, business and the private sector security industry.

At the beginning of 2016 the City of London Police adopted the National Project Griffin Awareness Event, which is governed by NaCTSO. The can be run on City of London Police premises or they can be offered in-house to businesses within the City of London.

Please see below for full details.

City of London Police Premises

These are held monthly at venue within the City of London between 0930hrs – 1330hrs.

Project Griffin provides an overview of the following areas to give organisations an awareness of the threat from terrorism:

  • Current threat level
  • Prevent strategies
  • Hostile reconnaissance
  • Methods of attack

There is no cost to attend the event.

Tea, coffee and water will be provided during the event and a personalised certificate of attendance will be sent out after the event.

Due to the high demand for places on Project Griffin & Project ARGUS at Wood Street Police Station, we have now changed the way we manage our bookings.

Priority will be given to those working within the City of London Force area, please check you are within the City boundary by clicking here; https://www.cityoflondon.police.uk/contact-city-police/police-stations/Pages/default.aspx

We do have a small number of spaces available for organisations that have links within the City, but are not based here.

There will also be a limit of five people per organisation for each session.

Please contact your local Police Force to find out more about Project Griffin and Project ARGUS in your area.

To book your place for Project Griffin or ARGUS hosted by the City of London Police, please go to ‘Eventbrite’ using this link.

In-House Premises

Run by City of London Police Counter Terrorism team, this is available to businesses within the City of London only. A Counter Terrorism Security Advisor will attend your premises and deliver a three hour presentation.

The presentation will cover the following areas:

  • Current threat level

  • Hostile reconnaissance

  • Stay Safe

There will be the opportunity to have a short break during this time, should you wish to provide refreshments.

There is a minimum of 20 delegates required for an in-house service, with the maximum being dependent on your venue capacity.

There is no cost for this service.

If you require further information, please contact the following;

Due to recent high demand we have a waiting list for in-house sessions. It may take some time for us to accommodate your request.
