Telephone bomb threats

Terrorists sometimes call to warn that a bomb has been planted.

By asking the caller these questions, you can help police respond to these threats.

Record the EXACT wording of the threat. Ask the following questions

 

  • Where is the bomb right now?
  • When is it going to explode?
  • What does it look like?
  • What will cause it to explode?
  • Did you place the bomb?
  • Why?
  • What is your name?
  • What is your address?
  • What is your telephone number?

 

About the caller

 

  • Sex of caller?
  • Age?
  • Nationality?

Language

 

  • Well spoken?
  • Irrational?
  • Offensive?
  • Taped or read?

 

Caller’s voice

 

  • Calm/Angry?
  • Laughter?
  • Disguised?
  • Accent?

 

Background noise

 

  • Street noises?
  • PA systems?
  • Office noise?
  • Traffic?

 

Anything else you noticed?

 

  • Time of Call?
  • Number call received on?​
