Dedicated Card and Payment Crime Unit

The Dedicated Card and Payment Crime Unit (DCPCU) is a unique pro-active police Unit, with a national remit, formed as a partnership between the City of London Police, the Metropolitan Police Service, the UK banking industry trade association UK Finance and the Home Office.
The DCPCU is fully sponsored by the banking industry and works to identify and target the organised criminal gangs (OCGs) responsible for card and payment crime.
The current key priority areas for the DCPCU are:

  1. Card Not Present (CNP) - to identify the criminal groups engaged in this activity, through proactive intelligence led investigations.
  2. Social Engineering (to include Vishing & SMShing) – to identify organised criminal groups engaged in this major threat, which is targeting largely vulnerable individuals and businesses, thereby causing significant harm to the UK payments industry, both financial and reputational.
  3. Staff Integrity (OCGs) – to reduce harm caused by dishonest members of staff involved in organised crime.
