Licences and permits

The Licensing team are based at Walbrook Wharf working closely in partnership with the City of London Corporation Licensing Team. 

The team deals with a wide range of activities mainly focused around Alcohol and Firearms Licensing, providing guidance to licensed premises and enforcement where necessary.​​

Meet the team

John Hall – Police Licensing Officer

John Hall has been with the team since 2008 with his primary role focused on the licensing of Firearms in the City of London. John is also involved with alcohol Licensing dealing with new and variations of premises licences. John was previously a police constable with the City of London police before re-joining as a civilian Licensing Officer. John has obtained the British Institute of Inn Keepers award for Music Promoters. John has 21 years experience with the force.

Paul Holmes – Police Licensing Officer

Paul Holmes joined the team in June 2009 and specialises in Promoted events, temporary event notices and research around events organised in City of London venues. Paul has 21 year’s experience with the force and was previously the force warrants officer before taking up the challenging of Licensing. Paul has also obtained the British Institute of Inn Keepers award for Music Promoters.

PC Daniel White – Police Licensing Officer

Daniel White joined the City of London Police in 2002 and has been in the Licensing department since 2011 and has many years of policing experience behind him. His main focus is in assessing the performance of licensed premises against the Crime and disorder strategy for the City of London. Together with City Police colleagues they regularly undertake licensing visits around the City on busy evenings.
