Organising events

Organising a protest march or static demonstration

The City of London Police aim to improve dialogue with protest groups in advance and where possible, to gain a better understanding of the intent of the protesters and the nature of the protest activity. If consultation takes place the Police and Organiser(s) can agree how best to facilitate the protest and to ensure a proportionate policing response.

Marches and demonstrations

If you wish to organise a protest march then please send the completed form 3175 to:

Operational Planning Office,
City of London Police,
37 Wood Street,

Notification of public procession

Notification can be made by sending your completed forms to Operational Planning at the address above.

Events management

Road Closures

Effective management of events taking place on the public highway is essential to ensure the success of the event, safety of participants and spectators and to minimise disruption to other highway users. Planning involves discussions between the event organiser, the City Police and the City of London. On the ground activities include the provision of crowd control barriers.

Promotions and events

Officers from the City of London Police Licensing department are able support your event or promotion by risk assessing it. The purpose of this is to enable us to give you appropriate advice to ensure your event is safe. This process is entirely voluntary, except in cases where The City of London Corporation has made it a condition of your licence.

To carry out this assessment, we require certain information about the event from you. Please send the completed form 696, at least 14 days in advance of the event, to and  Clubs Focus Desk  (Metropolitan Police)
