Emergency Trauma Packs

ETP-Logo copy.jpg

In 2017 the City of London Police launched a new scheme that introduced Emergency Trauma Packs (ETPs) to prominent buildings and business premises within the Square Mile. There are now over 100 ETPs in various premises around the Square Mile, and staff at each business or location can opt in to receive enhanced training in in how to use them.

By having fully-stocked Emergency Trauma Packs your premises, first responders, businesses, and members of the public will have the tools readily-available to respond in the event of a mass casualty incident. This is in line with government guidance and recommendations from reviews into recent terrorist attacks in the UK and abroad.

Each pack is stocked with a collection of specialist medical equipment to treat casualties, with the location of the kits plotted on an interactive map so that the City of London Police control room are able to utilise of the packs in the event of a major incident.

  • The cost of the kit, estimated at around £499, and its upkeep are the responsibility of the business which purchases them.
  • Each kit will be stored in a secure location within the business premises. Each business will appoint a key holder who can be contacted 24 hours a day should the kit be needed.
  • There is a one day training course that is aimed at first aid at work trained staff, which is offered by the ETP supplier. This training is certified and will cover how to use the equipment within an ETP and scenarios that may be encountered when an pack is required.
  • The CitizenAid app is free to download and is designed to help members of the public learn how to respond in an emergency.
