Assistant Fleet Manager

City of London Police are currently looking for a high calibre Assistant Fleet Manager, with a strong track record in both fleet and people management.

You will be responsible for the coordination and management of our Police fleet and the administration processes that support the service. A key function of the role will be to ensure that vehicles are in the best condition, on the road and available for the Force. You will achieve this through building and maintaining effective relationships with our internal customers and external suppliers in order to improve availability, maintenance turnaround and overall uptime of the fleet. Your previous experience in the industry will enable you to instil and enforce ‘best practices’ within the team and apply detailed management intervention where turnaround time is not being achieved by our service partners.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to capitalise on their existing knowledge of the industry and put to the test the skills and attributes required to keep City of London Police on the road.

Selection Criteria

Skills

  • Excellent IT skills, including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills in order to provide a high level of service to customers and visitors are essential.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in a pressurised environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge

  • A detailed working knowledge of vehicle fleet management.
  • Membership of professional vehicle fleet institute e.g. Institute of Car Fleet Management or be willing to work towards membership.
  • Knowledge of developing contracts and contractual relationships with external suppliers.

Experience

  • Proven experience in a fleet administration/management function and management of multi-agency support contracts.
  • Experience of collating/manipulating data and information for presentation to senior management and strategic boards.
  • Experience of managing budgets and processing orders and invoices.
  • Experience of managing staff and overseeing staff development.
