CTSA (Counter Terrorism Security Adviser) Constable

The CTSA part of the Crime Directorate is a small but highly specialised area within the Protect & Prepare strands of the Government’s CONTEST CT Strategy in respect of Crowded Places, Hazardous Sites & Substances, Critical National Infrastructure and Personal Security.

CTSA’s are tasked by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NACTSO) to work with the City business sector in ensuring both premise and personnel security is delivered in line with national guidance. This includes site surveying, presentation delivery, and table top exercising. CTSA’s work in conjunction with the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) in providing security for premises of Critical National Infrastructure (CNI). CTSA’s also have responsibility around personal security to targeted and threatened individuals and those at threat.

The Following skills and abilities are required for the role:

Essential Criteria

  • Attain and maintain Certificate of Competency/Licensed accreditation as a CTSA.
  • Access to and knowledge of, relevant Force IT systems.
  • Evidence competent IT skills, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Evidence competent presentation style. The successful candidate will be required to present to senior industry leaders and large groups.
  • Achieve and maintain vetting to a minimum of ‘Security Cleared’ (SC) status.
  • Any new or existing business interest must be reviewed by Force to ensure it meets confidentiality requirements for this post.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to knowledge gained through performance of duties.
  • Candidates must be available to attend a three week residential foundation course during June 2019.

Desirable Criteria

  • CTSA qualification / experience.
  • AET Level 3 (or equivalent) training qualification.
  • Experience of training, presenting.
  • Knowledge of business continuity and resilience.
  • Experience of crime prevention, architectural design, planning, or engineering relevant to CP, HSS or CNI.
  • Knowledge of groups, attack methodologies and current affairs relating to terrorism and extremism.

Vetting

Please note that applicants who are not currently vetted to ‘Security Cleared’ (SC) status are invited to enter the process, however if they are successful and subsequently fail the vetting process they will not be able to remain in the role.
