Intelligence Analyst

The City of London Police has opportunities arising in its Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) and within its Economic Crime Directorate and are currently seeking experienced Analysts to join their team.

We currently have a fixed term position for one year, until 31st March 2020, but are also interested in applications for permanent roles which may become available later in the year.

Within the FIB, you will be required to deliver a quality analytical service in support of the priorities for the City of London Police. The role will require you to drive forward intelligence development ensuring the use of tactical opportunities with overt and covert investigative techniques.

The City of London Police is nationally and internationally renowned for its expertise in identifying, combating and preventing fraud. The Economic Crime Directorate (ECD) plays a vital role in this process. ECD is home to a number of specialist fraud, cyber crime and intellectual property crime squads and units which coordinate and/or assist in the enforcement, disruption and prevention of serious and organised crime.

The role

Working within an analytical team, your skills could help make an impact towards our objectives around tackling serious organised crime within the City of London and within national units supporting Law Enforcement in the United Kingdom. Using your knowledge and experience of the National Intelligence Model, you’ll work with a wide range of data to create analytical products in support of identifying and developing intelligence-led policing strategies.

This will include identifying, developing and presenting enforcement, disruption and prevention opportunities for law enforcement and key stakeholders. Evidential support may also be required and could result in giving evidence in court.

Key requirements

Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a proven analytical background within law enforcement and/or an associated counter fraud organisation. Strong abilities to identity and development enforcement, disruption and prevention opportunities are essential. Analytical skills will be complemented by an ability to present in a clear and concise manner. Applicants will also be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of i2 analyst notebook, as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Extensive research skills and use of open source tools are also critical.
