Intelligence Researcher

The City of London Police has opportunities arising in its Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) and within its Economic Crime Directorate and are currently seeking experienced Intelligence Researchers to join their team. 

Within the FIB, you will be required to deliver a quality analytical service in support of the priorities for the City of London Police. The role will require you to drive forward intelligence development ensuring the use of tactical opportunities with overt and covert investigative techniques.

The City of London Police is nationally and internationally renowned for its expertise in identifying, combating and preventing fraud. The Economic Crime Directorate (ECD) plays a vital role in this process. ECD is home to a number of specialist fraud, cyber crime and intellectual property crime squads and units which coordinate and/or assist in the enforcement, disruption and prevention of serious and organised crime. 

The Role

Working within a team of specialists, your skills could help make an impact towards our objectives around tackling serious organised crime within the City of London and within national units supporting Law Enforcement in the United Kingdom. Using your knowledge and experience of the National Intelligence Model, you’ll work with a wide range of data to create researcher products in support of identifying and developing intelligence-led policing strategies.

Duties will include:

  • The provision of intelligence in line with the National Intelligence Model (NIM).
  • Process intelligence requests received from internal and external stakeholders. This process will involve a degree of consultation.
  • Review and research of criminal networks, associated intelligence and subject profiles.
  • Development of any other relevant data that is available through the appropriate identification and collection process that will add value to enforcement, disruption and prevention activity.

Key Requirements

Applicants will possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a proven research background within law enforcement or an associated counter fraud organisation. Excellent report writing skills together with the ability to communicate both verbally and in written form are essential. Applicants will also be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The applicant will also be able to demonstrate the ability to use a wide variety of open and closed source online research tools.
