Police Constable - Student Officer

Applications are invited from candidates who hold a valid Search Recruit Assessment pass to join City of London Police as Student Police Officer in May 2019.

You MUST hold a valid SEARCH® Recruit Assessment Centre pass (meeting the national standard pass or above) and submit the evidence in form of feedback report with your application.

We will ONLY accept applicants who can successfully evidence Search Assessment pass obtained 2 years from the date your application has been submitted to City of London Police.


Candidates who are eligible will be invited to the City of London Police for a suitability interview. If successful you will be required to undertake pre-employment checks including: Vetting, Medical assessment including eyesight standards and Force reference, Fitness test, DNA, Fingerprints and Substance Misuse Testing.

As a City of London Police officer you will endeavor to provide a reassuring presence and protect the public as well as prevent and investigate crimes committed within the business and residential communities. It can be a challenging and unpredictable job with no two days ever the same but it's also incredibly fulfilling and rewarding.

As a police officer with the City of London Police, you will:

  • Come face to face with the community every day
  • Attend emergency and non-emergency calls
  • Take statements from members of the public
  • Prepare reports
  • Investigate crimes and offences
  • Conduct searches
  • Make arrests and attend incidents.

There are a variety of specialist departments too – like Support Group, Mounted Branch, Tactical Firearms Group and CID. There may be an opportunity for candidates to enter our direct entry scheme for detectives if they show potential.
