Transport and Highways Operations Group is a department comprising of different roads policing specialisms, including Roads Policing patrol officers, Collision Investigation Unit, Safer Transport Operations Team and Commercial Vehicle Unit.
Essential Criteria
  • You must be fully qualified with BTEC, City and Guilds or equivalent in Roads Policing and in Drivers Hours legislation and analysis.
  • Standard vehicle examiner. 
  • Self-motivated, pro-active and have ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to plan and prepare for operations, collate results and work to deadlines.
  • Experience of multi-agency partnership working within roads policing and road safety.
  • Flexibility with working hours to meet the operational demands.   
  • Proficient IT skills – Word/Excel and other force systems/databases.
  • Constables must have completed probationary period.
  • Sergeant applicants must be substantive in rank.
  • Committed to undertaking additional learning and Continued Professional Development in Roads Policing. As this may include studying to be undertaken in your own time, you need to be able to maintain a suitable work / life balance.
Desirable Criteria
  • Category A driving license and willing to undertake police motorcycle training.
  • Qualified and experienced as a vehicle prohibition officer and  a drivers hours prohibition officer.
  • Other relevant roads policing vocational qualifications e.g. HOSTYDS, pursuit tactical advisor, Carriage of Dangerous Goods etc.
