Service Development Officer

Purpose of the post

Act as a central point of contact for police forces in England and Wales on matters relating to the end-to-end Action Fraud and NFIB service, proactively seeking feedback to share and develop best practise, and identifying technical service issues which need to be addressed.

  • Formulate technical solutions to service concerns and plan and manage their resolution to help ensure victims of fraud receive a high quality consistent service and police are engaged and support the Action Fraud and NFIB service provided to them.
  • Keep abreast of current and emerging technologies which support customer services operations and propose how these could be used to enhance Action Fraud and NFIB operations.
  • Proactively develop relationships with agencies and organisations such as financial institutions, trade bodies and Victim Support groups who have an interest in fraud matters and assess how current and future services may be developed on line to improve access to Action Fraud.
  • Plan and manage technical service development testing exercises such as bulk reporting with banks or other financial institutions.
  • Review, scope, design, manage and deliver key Action Fraud web tool development projects to cost, time and quality parameters ensuring robust project methodology is used and relevant project documentation is kept throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Pro-actively ensure web tool development projects are aligned alongside other Action Fraud and NFIB projects to ensure cost and resource allocations can be effectively allocated.
  • Manage the quality, timeliness and documentation of projects undertaken across Action Fraud and NFIB and the contribution of staff assigned to work on them.
  • Monitor and assess technical risks to the service and ensure these are reflected in the risk register.
  • Occasionally provide executive support to the Head of Action Fraud including providing project and risk updates, collating management information and reviewing papers.

Experience required –

  • Experience in a role designing and developing technical improvements to support business processes including the application and development of web tool technology
  • Experience of planning and managing web tool development projects in a complex business operation.
  • Experience of developing relationships with key stakeholders with the aim of improving access to and the technical delivery of services to customers.
