Specialist Fraud Trainer

An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen to join the training team at the City of London Police’s Economic Crime Academy.

The post­ holder will be a member of the specialist training team responsible for delivering core learning programmes in the disciplines of fraud, bribery and financial investigation including anti-money laundering. As a member of the Academy training team, the post holder may provide advice and guidance in the on-going development and delivery of Academy programmes including the Specialist Fraud Investigation Programme.

The role will require staff to be flexible in relation to their working arrangements and be available to work away from the City of London at delivery sites across the UK.

Selection Criteria


  • Experienced investigator with a knowledge of economic crime investigations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Authorised Professional Practice relevant to economic crime investigations
  • An experienced trainer with a recognised training qualification (level 4 or above)
  • Liaising with clients and stakeholders to identify business and learning needs that inform training design and delivery
  • A strong customer and business focus with the ability to manage and provide a service to multiple, diverse customers with challenging requirements
  • Have excellent problem solving and lateral thinking skills in order to devise innovative solutions to learning
  • Contribute to research proposals in the economic crime disciplines and to the integration of effective research in to learning
  • Excellent inter­personal, influencing and communication skills in order to communicate effectively with clients from all areas of the counter fraud community and represent the Economic Crime Academy

Knowledge and Experience

Substantial knowledge and experience in:

  • Experienced in delivering inclusive training programmes
  • National economic crime operations
  • Partnership working
  • Application of national competency frameworks and occupational standards and an understanding of their role in, and impact on, adult learning
  • An understanding of assessment and accreditation within a learning environment
  • Experience of promoting equality and diversity in the workplace
  • Able to act as a role model for enabling cultural change
  • IT competent in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines and have good organisation skills
  • Working within a specialist team
