Christopher Fisher Wight, a former City of London Police Special Superintendent, was dismissed without notice at an accelerated gross misconduct disciplinary hearing on Monday 25 April 2022, after Commissioner Angela McLaren found that the allegations against him amounted to discreditable conduct (contrary to schedule 2 of the standards of professional behaviour as outlined in the Police Regulations 2020). The allegations were that Fisher Wight made indecent images of children.
Fisher Wight was arrested on 11 January 2021, as part of an investigation by Norfolk Constabulary between 2020 and 2021. He was a serving City of London Police Special Superintendent at the time of his arrest; however, he was suspended immediately after his arrest.
Fisher Wight was charged with three counts of making indecent images of children, contrary to the Protection of Children Act 1978, on 10 February 2022. Having pleaded guilty, he was convicted of all three offences at court.
On Tuesday 3rd May 2022 District Judge Wilson of Norwich Magistrates Court sentenced him to 26 weeks custody suspended for 18 months, 200 hours unpaid work, 40 days rehabilitation activity requirements, an order for costs, to spend 7 years on Sex Offender Register: and a 7-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order that controls and monitors his internet activity and use of digitally enabled devices.
During the sentencing, the Judge commented that he was of positive good character and had been a special constable for a good deal of time. However, the offending was a significant downfall for him personally and professionally.
Christopher Fisher Wight has been placed on the Police barred list preventing him from ever joining the Police in the future.
