A misconduct hearing concluded on the 6 September 2023 in relation to allegations that Thomas Perkins, a former Police Constable at the City of London Police, breached standards of professional behaviour amounting to gross misconduct.
The hearing panel determined that the officer contacted, and attempted to purse an inappropriate emotional relationship, with a witness using personal contact details that he had obtained for policing purposes while at an incident in 2022.
His actions were found to have breached the following standards of professional behaviour:
He was dismissed from the force without notice and his name will be placed on the barred list held by the College of Policing.
Det Supt Claire Cresswell, of the Professional Standards Department, said: “We take every action necessary to maintain our professional standards and expect all staff to serve with professionalism, integrity, and compassion. There is no place in the City of London Police for officers whose behaviour falls below the standards that we, as well as the public, expect.”
