Name and picture released of German woman cyclist who died after Ludgate Hill collision

The cyclist that died after a collision in the City of London last week has been identified as 26-year-old Janina Gehlau.

She was a full-time History of the Arts Masters student from Dusseldorf, Germany, and was in London completing a three month volunteer project for her dissertation.

Janina Gehlau was seriously injured in a collision with a lorry on Ludgate Hill, close to the junction of Farringdon Street, on Friday morning and was taken to the Royal London Hospital. She sadly died with her family by her bedside on Monday afternoon.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and there have been no arrests. The City of London Police investigation is ongoing with officers appealing for witnesses to contact them on 0207 601 2222. ​​
