A bit about Hannah
Growing up, I always wanted to be a police officer. It was something that always fascinated me. However, I decided to take a different path and try something else within the police force, so I got a job in the Corporate Communications office to try my hand at the media side of policing.
My desire to be a police officer did not go away, so I decided why not get the best of both worlds and become a Special constable for the force I already enjoy working for. So I applied and got through and here I am patrolling the streets of the City of London and tweeting about my experiences.
I can truly say that it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I get to go out on patrol meeting new people and dealing with different situations. At times it can be stressful, but this is part of being a police officer. Every shift I do is different. You get to work with different officers each time and you are always learning new things.
At the end of every shift I know that I have helped at least one person which could be as simple as giving someone directions, helping someone by administering first aid, or just by being a visible presence to make someone feel safe, it is a very rewarding experience.
