Shoplifter jailed and banned from City of London

A shoplifter has been sentenced to 19 weeks in prison and banned from entering the City of London for five years.

Kamal Hussein, 43, of Bloxhall Road, Leyton, has been convicted of four counts of theft at Co-op on Cheapside between June and July 2024.

He was also convicted of five counts of theft at Boots in One New Change between April and June 2024.

Hussien has also been handed a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), granted by Westminster Magistrates’ Court, which will ban him from entering the City of London for five years.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Spooner at the City of London Police, said:

“Kamal Hussein caused significant alarm and distress to retail staff in the City with his threatening and intimidating behaviour and serious offending.

“He showed no signs in stopping his criminal behaviour. His actions warranted a CBO to protect members of the public and shop staff and deter further reoffending.

“We will continue use all our resources in keeping businesses and members of the public safe and bring criminals to justice.”

If Hussein breaches his CBO, he could face further jail time.
