Members of an organised crime gang (OCG) which supplied class A drugs have been sentenced, following an intensive investigation by City of London Police, with the ringleader getting 15 years in jail.
Members of the gang were sentenced at Inner London Crown Court to a total of 33 and a half years, with two to be sentenced at a later date.
The gang was dismantled by the Serious Organised Crime Team, which seized more than £45,000 worth of class A drugs and found a sawn-off shotgun and silencer.
The group was linked to the drug supply lines known as the ‘Reeko’ and ‘Green Eyes’ lines.
Between 1 May 2022 and 6 August 2023, the group conspired to supply crack cocaine and heroin in and around the streets of the City of London, as well as being in possession of a prohibited firearm without a license.
The OCG used different mobile phones to arrange the movement, storage and sale of class A drugs.
Mohammed Abdul Bakye, 45, of Alfred Court, SE16, was the head of the OCG, dealing crack cocaine and heroin in the London area through the ‘Reeko’ and ‘Green Eyes’ drugs lines.
He was found guilty of conspiracy to supply drugs and possession of a prohibited firearm without a license. He has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and handed a Serious Crime Prevention Order, meaning he has conditions placed on him after he is released.
Detective Constable Jared Fortune, who led the investigation at the Serious Organised Crime Team, City of London Police, said:
“This was a lengthy investigation that has led to this organised crime group being dismantled. In doing so, we have stopped tens of thousands of pounds worth of Class A drugs hitting the streets of London.
“Mohammed Abdul Bakye was the head of this violent and exploitative gang which used children and vulnerable people to deal the most destructive of substances, crack and heroin, in the London area.
“I hope the sentences imposed send a clear message to those involved in drug supply – the City of London Police’s Serious Organised Crime Team will work tirelessly in pursuing and disrupting criminal activity. We are determined to continue to bring criminals to justice.”
Goulger Ahmed, 42, of Wick Lane, E3, delivered crack and heroin to customers and occasionally operated the ‘Reeko’ and ‘Green Eyes’ lines. He was convicted of drug supply offences and has been handed a two years and 11 months prison sentence.
Nazimul Islam, 43, Woodall Close, E14, was found guilty of drug supply. He was sentenced to four years in prison. Islam assisted and took part in street dealing for the OCG.
Naseem Ahmed, 22, Forbes Street, E1, was found guilty of drug supply. He was given a five-year and one month prison sentence. He worked under Bakye as the controller of the ‘Reeko’ class A drugs line and mobilised others in the commission of drug supply offences.
The role of Muhammed Ismail Ahmed, 24, of Hatfield Road, Dagenham, was to package class A drugs at various stash houses and meet with Bakye in supplying drugs on the streets. He was convicted of drug supply and firearm offences and has been sentenced to six and half years in prison.
Molan Miah, 44, of Ellen Street, E1, was found guilty of drug supply.
Miah, set up the ‘Green Eyes’ drug line and admitted to playing an administrative role in the enterprise through setting up the ‘Green Eyes’ line mobile number for which he is the registered subscriber and controller. He will be sentenced at a later date.
Imran Ahmed, 22, Seyssel Street, E14, was found guilty of drug supply offences. He was involved in directing and supervising some of the other defendants in the class A drug supply enterprise. He will be sentenced at a later date.
During a warrant carried out on 6 August 2023, officers found a locked digital safe and sets of drug paraphernalia in the corner of the bedroom, including a set of digital scales and bags for packaging.
Inside the safe were large quantities of pre-packaged crack cocaine, heroin, and MDMA, valued at £36,355.
A shotgun, ammunition, and a silencer for another firearm was also discovered inside the safe.
Another warrant was carried out in Dagenham where the ringleader, Bakye, was arrested. Officers found two phones in his possession, one linked to the supply of drugs.
This was one of the biggest crack and heroin drug lines in the City of London which the Serious Organised Crime Team (SOCT) have disrupted since it was established in 2022.
SOCT focuses on breaking down organised crime groups involved in activities such as production and distribution of drugs, human trafficking and money laundering. The dedicated team is successfully bringing criminals to justice and keeping people in the City safe.
