The City of London Police has recently issued a mass communication via SMS/Email to members of the public who we believe may have been contacted by overseas fraud gangs. We want to reassure you that this message is genuine and forms part of an ongoing investigation in Romania into organised criminal activity targeting UK residents.
In partnership with the Romanian Police, we have identified over 400 UK mobile phone numbers that may have been contacted by fraudsters. These communications are linked to a wider investigation into fraudulent activity.
Between 2023 and 2025, fraud gangs are believed to have contacted members of the public by sending text messages or making unsolicited calls. If you received a message regarding Op Queby from City of London Police, you have been identified as a potential victim and we encourage you to come forward
