A child sex offender sex who sent explicit messages to someone he believed to be a 14-year-old child has been jailed. He was discovered by an online predator hunter group, who passed the information to the police.
Andre Medeiros, 39, who lives in Portugal, was sentenced to three years in prison for engaging in sexual communication with a child and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
On 28 May 2025, a user named 'CHILL_VIBES' (Medeiros) initiated conversation with the decoy by sending a message on a social media platform. During the first three messages, the decoy informed Medeiros that she was 14 years old. He responded by stating that he was a 16 year-old boy, named 'Alex'.
Messages increased in a sexually explicit nature, with Medeiros sending links to videos on a porn site and asking what he believed to be a 14 year-old girl to take a picture of herself in the bath.
The messages were sent to police and it was ascertained that Medeiros was sending the communications from a hotel in the City. Medeiros, who visited London regularly for work, was arrested in his hotel room on 13 August 2025 by City of London Police officers.
Detective Constable Natalie Schofield, City of London Police, said:
“Medeiros has a clear sexual interest in young girls and the custodial sentence handed down to him reflects the danger that he poses. In this instance, Medeiros was speaking to a decoy but he did not know that and it was clear what his intentions were from his depraved sexual messages.
“Anyone who has been a victim of a sexual offence, is concerned for the safety of someone they know or suspects someone to be engaging in this criminal activity, should come forward and speak to us.
“We have a team of dedicated staff who will expertly and compassionately deal with your reports, and we will do everything we can to bring offenders to justice.”
Medieros will be deported following his custodial sentence and will be on the sex offenders register for life.
